  • Guilty Pleasures

I have found myself anew and it is all thanks to those people at Sony.. Singstar is the bestest game. Legends is my particular favourite as it has some ultimate classics on there! I like getting down to Barry White and Tears for Fears. I've only played it a couple of times under the influence with friends but secretly I want to try it out for myself on my own, just to see if when inebriated I am as good as I think I am. The joys of booze and karaoke in the comfort of your own home. Genius.

  • Long Time No Blog

I have fallen out of the habit of blogging of late. So here is a spanking new shiny one. Lots of things have changed since I last blogged, like a new season of Lost, a new job, new shoes and new boy in my life (he smells of Marmite, but luckily I like Marmite) but I won't bore you with the details!

My new job is ok and luckily I get lots of freebies and yes Chris, the odd free lunch.

    Life is Good.

  • Feeling restless... again

If ever you are invited to a Scottish barn dance.. you must go. Make it your lifes ambition if you must. They are the best things in the hole wide world. My guesses in the previous entry of how the night would unfold were all spot on.. it was fan-bloody-tastic! If you aren't in the happy position of being invited to one, throw one yourself, get married if you need an excuse for one, it will be worth it!

Why is it everytime I go away somewhere it makes me restless and want to become an explrer and go on adventures? After spending the weekend in Totnes I now realise that sitting at a computer all day long is not how I envisioned grown-up life to be. I want a job where I put wellington boots on in the morning and jump in the muddiest puddle I can find!

    treees

Joking aside this is actually what I want to do! Everytime I have one of these moments of unease I feel like I am eeking that little bit closer to my goal.. whatever that is.

  • Is this the local Twitchery...??

    Up the garden path

  • A bit of a jig...

This weekend I am going to be strutting my stuff at a Ceilidh for my friends' mum's birthday and I have no idea where to begin with it!!?

I think it is something like a Scottish Barn Dance where everyone gets up and is flung around to very fast music. I am kacking myself as generally I like to shy away at these things and hide beside the buffet/bar. Not this time tho... I'm resolved to be flung about by the beefiest Scotsman I can find!

    dance

The way I picture it there will be lots of thigh slapping and jigging and laffs and, well, sweat! I can see nothing wrong with that picture..

In other more depressing news, my car is in the garage.. again. I think the reason it has gone in is because it doesn't like the cold or the rain and throws a mardy everytime I want to go anywhere. So, back to the garage with it, where it will be tinkered with and violated, hahaha. That'll teach it to misbehave when I want to drive somewhere..

Because of this minor setback I have been getting the bus to work, which sadistically I have enjoyed. You see the same faces every morning, it's like clockwork. You feel like you're all on the same team, set against the corporate whores of this world.. or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Today I got an earlier bus (would you ever believe it) than my usual 8:10 bus and there were a host of strangers on the bus!! I hope the guys from my regular journey weren't too worried about me...

  • ...down the smoke

Went to London this weekend and oh what a great time I had! Saw some old friends and their new places.. went boogying in the cheesiest club in Covent Garden and got to know the public transport system inside out as we went wrong so many times I feel I know it quite intimately now!

    Tuuuuube

    An example:

My flat mate and I were staying with our friend in Islington. After a successful morning in Camden we trecked down to South Wimbledon to attend a friends house party. Great so far, no changes, 12 stops. This wasn't just any party, it was a BBQ and they had the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen!! We decide to catch the last tube and leave the party early at 11.30 (after consuming many a rib and sausage). Tube is shut. Catch bus. London buses are no longer an eternal mystery to me.. seeing as it took us 3 hours to get home in the rain (I had been optimistic earlier and not bought out my coat.. idiot) I now also know that Vauxhall bus station at 1 in the morning is frequented by more than a handful of tramps desperate for cigarettes. Do not show weakness or they will pounce.

So although it was raining and it really shouldn't have taken that long to get home, what an adventure. Almost better than trecking to the outer hebredees (or so it seemed).

  • The time of the daffodils is over...

The birds are singing, the sun is beaming and everyone is getting married!!!

What is all that about?!! Should I be getting married? I don't even have a house? Let alone someone I want to share the rest of my days with... I suddenly hear that biological clock booming in my ears!

But wait a minute. Do I even want to get married..? Sure I want to hear the pitter patter .. but not just yet, wait a cotton picking minute. I have years left, surely I haven't reached my prime yet.. relax, loobs and don't panic.

    Enjoy the ride!

  • Bowlorama

Yesterday was my brothers birthday and to celebrate, a-bowling we did go! No longer were we known by our earthly names.. we were now known by names such as Pins of Fury, Skittle Whipper and Meaty Cow Head (he has a big head). Oh how the balls did fly! There were some great styles.. some opted for a long and powerful run-up whereas others went for the more graceful push and swing, bringing the leg round and under. I was really ungraceful and just swung and hoped for the best. I found this tactic, although temperemental was successful in its way and did the job just fine.
    Bowlarama
There was even talk of making it a weekly fixture and getting some kick-ass silken jackets made up..!

  • Like Cillit Bang?.. Like Techno?..

    Then you'll love this link!

Happy Easter everyone! I have had a great day today. Full on family fun and frolics including a massive roast dinner and some jarping.. 'twas everything Easter Sunday should be! I also just switched on the telly and went to MTV and have just lost 2 hours of my life flicking from one crap video to another, they did have a Beyonce special tho' with all her best vids. And the arctic monkeys one is pretty good with the drummer, but it did remind me a little bit of the one with the guy from Travis doing pushups in a car park. Life goes on..
    beyonce

In my new job I now have to get up at 7.30am as opposed to the leisurely hour of 9.20am. I have found this extremely inconvenient as it makes me tired at about 9.30pm! I am really not used to it.. and the worst thing is that now when I have a day off I wake up at 8.30am!! What is that all about?! Actually it is quite good as I now don't feel as tho' I've wasted half the day lounging around in bed. But still.. I do like my bed an awful lot more than I should!

As a leaving present from my old job, I was kindly given some Fopp vouchers and promptly went and bought Waynes World 1 and 2, so party on blog world!

  • NewJobNewJob!!

I have a new and grown up big girls job! I have to wear a smart shirt and proper trousers and all that! Now I am tied down and feel like I have real responsibility and I'm a bit scared. I hope they have the internet at work.. then I will be OK. The thing I am most afraid of is what the bloody bejeezus i am going to wear. That and making a complete dick of myself as I have never been in such an environment before. All this aside I am excited. Should be something different, and something that I actually feel will be worthwhile.

I will miss my mateo's at my other 2 jobs. They were good people.
