Legends is my particular favourite as it has some ultimate classics on there! I like getting down to Barry White and Tears for Fears. I've only played it a couple of times under the influence with friends but secretly I want to try it out for myself on my own, just to see if when inebriated I am as good as I think I am. The joys of booze and karaoke in the comfort of your own home. Genius.

So here is a spanking new shiny one. Lots of things have changed since I last blogged, like a new season of Lost, a new job, new shoes and new boy in my life (he smells of Marmite, but luckily I like Marmite) but I won't bore you with the details!

My new job is ok and luckily I get lots of freebies and yes Chris, the odd free lunch.

Life is Good.

 Comments

Feeling restless... again

If ever you are invited to a Scottish barn dance.. you must go. Make it your lifes ambition if you must. They are the best things in the hole wide world. My guesses in the previous entry of how the night would unfold were all spot on.. it was fan-bloody-tastic! If you aren't in the happy position of being invited to one, throw one yourself, get married if you need an excuse for one, it will be worth it!

Why is it everytime I go away somewhere it makes me restless and want to become an explrer and go on adventures? After spending the weekend in Totnes I now realise that sitting at a computer all day long is not how I envisioned grown-up life to be. I want a job where I put wellington boots on in the morning and jump in the muddiest puddle I can find!

Joking aside this is actually what I want to do! Everytime I have one of these moments of unease I feel like I am eeking that little bit closer to my goal.. whatever that is.

 Comments

Is this the local Twitchery...??

I think it is something like a Scottish Barn Dance where everyone gets up and is flung around to very fast music. I am kacking myself as generally I like to shy away at these things and hide beside the buffet/bar. Not this time tho... I'm resolved to be flung about by the beefiest Scotsman I can find!

The way I picture it there will be lots of thigh slapping and jigging and laffs and, well, sweat! I can see nothing wrong with that picture..

In other more depressing news, my car is in the garage.. again. I think the reason it has gone in is because it doesn't like the cold or the rain and throws a mardy everytime I want to go anywhere. So, back to the garage with it, where it will be tinkered with and violated, hahaha. That'll teach it to misbehave when I want to drive somewhere..

Because of this minor setback I have been getting the bus to work, which sadistically I have enjoyed. You see the same faces every morning, it's like clockwork. You feel like you're all on the same team, set against the corporate whores of this world.. or maybe I'm reading too much into it. Today I got an earlier bus (would you ever believe it) than my usual 8:10 bus and there were a host of strangers on the bus!! I hope the guys from my regular journey weren't too worried about me...

Saw some old friends and their new places.. went boogying in the cheesiest club in Covent Garden and got to know the public transport system inside out as we went wrong so many times I feel I know it quite intimately now!

An example:

My flat mate and I were staying with our friend in Islington. After a successful morning in Camden we trecked down to South Wimbledon to attend a friends house party. Great so far, no changes, 12 stops. This wasn't just any party, it was a BBQ and they had the biggest rack of ribs I have ever seen!! We decide to catch the last tube and leave the party early at 11.30 (after consuming many a rib and sausage). Tube is shut. Catch bus. London buses are no longer an eternal mystery to me.. seeing as it took us 3 hours to get home in the rain (I had been optimistic earlier and not bought out my coat.. idiot) I now also know that Vauxhall bus station at 1 in the morning is frequented by more than a handful of tramps desperate for cigarettes. Do not show weakness or they will pounce.

So although it was raining and it really shouldn't have taken that long to get home, what an adventure. Almost better than trecking to the outer hebredees (or so it seemed).

What is all that about?!! Should I be getting married? I don't even have a house? Let alone someone I want to share the rest of my days with... I suddenly hear that biological clock booming in my ears!

But wait a minute. Do I even want to get married..? Sure I want to hear the pitter patter .. but not just yet, wait a cotton picking minute. I have years left, surely I haven't reached my prime yet.. relax, loobs and don't panic.

Enjoy the ride!

No longer were we known by our earthly names.. we were now known by names such as Pins of Fury, Skittle Whipper and Meaty Cow Head (he has a big head). Oh how the balls did fly! There were some great styles.. some opted for a long and powerful run-up whereas others went for the more graceful push and swing, bringing the leg round and under. I was really ungraceful and just swung and hoped for the best. I found this tactic, although temperemental was successful in its way and did the job just fine.

There was even talk of making it a weekly fixture and getting some kick-ass silken jackets made up..!

Happy Easter everyone! I have had a great day today. Full on family fun and frolics including a massive roast dinner and some jarping.. 'twas everything Easter Sunday should be! I also just switched on the telly and went to MTV and have just lost 2 hours of my life flicking from one crap video to another, they did have a Beyonce special tho' with all her best vids. And the arctic monkeys one is pretty good with the drummer, but it did remind me a little bit of the one with the guy from Travis doing pushups in a car park. Life goes on..

In my new job I now have to get up at 7.30am as opposed to the leisurely hour of 9.20am. I have found this extremely inconvenient as it makes me tired at about 9.30pm! I am really not used to it.. and the worst thing is that now when I have a day off I wake up at 8.30am!! What is that all about?! Actually it is quite good as I now don't feel as tho' I've wasted half the day lounging around in bed. But still.. I do like my bed an awful lot more than I should!

As a leaving present from my old job, I was kindly given some Fopp vouchers and promptly went and bought Waynes World 1 and 2, so party on blog world!

I have to wear a smart shirt and proper trousers and all that! Now I am tied down and feel like I have real responsibility and I'm a bit scared. I hope they have the internet at work.. then I will be OK. The thing I am most afraid of is what the bloody bejeezus i am going to wear. That and making a complete dick of myself as I have never been in such an environment before. All this aside I am excited. Should be something different, and something that I actually feel will be worthwhile.

I will miss my mateo's at my other 2 jobs. They were good people.

Those suffering WonderLust should look away now to avoid burning up with jealousy..

The MongolRally is an event designed (or not designed at all) to race in the most clapped out vehicle you can find (with engine size no more than a litre) 8000 miles across Europe and Asia into Mongolia. Some people have done it in a Robin Reliant. You get to travel through Russia, Iran, Istanbul and cross the Caspian Sea. I know little about these countries and what they entail but it sounds A-mazin. Apparently last year some vehicles didn't make it all the way so some participants took to camels and horses to complete the race. Awesome. Other wacky races put on by this organization include crossing the channel in a bouncy castle and commandeering a Tuk-Tuk in India and marauding around there. You get the jist.

My friends are taking part in this calamatous race this summer and so we are all currently masterminding fundraising events to get them there. I also hope to go and meet them at the finish line. And I cannot wait!

Team Weasel

I am a scab! Today I crossed the picket line and came into work. There were several people outside the front door of work with banners and stuff and they smiled and said hello as I crossed that taboo line. I was slightly disappointed, it wasn't like Billy Elliot where they had to go into work in armoured up buses, as I had imagined.

Today has been quite eventful as Tuesdays go. I had an interview this morning that actually went quite well and I came out feeling ambitious and confident that I had done well. That is a dangerous sign, it might mean change.

Over the weekend I had a great time going to watch my bro in his band and DJing and stuff. And I had a conversation with a Golden Badger about how I best like my eggs cooked. Which incidently is as follows:

Scrambled
Fried
Omlette
Poached
Boiled
And I would like to try eggs benedict one day.

*Edit - the eggs do not have to be in their purest form. For example, I might like to add some salmon to my scrambled eggs, or have my fried eggs in a sandwhich.
I did some volunteering for the Notts Wildlife Trust and it was so fucking cool!! We were all given serated switch blade saws comme ca:

and got to cut down hawthorn trees to make room for other undergrowth including Orchids.. and it was soo cool! We dragged the offending timber like a petulent child and cremated it on a bonfire on which we toasted marshmallows on bona fide sticks at the end of the day.
Surrounding the place where we were working was an extensive network of badger sets and also some massive buzzrds! I got so dirty and sweaty and felt so fucking wholesome. What a great day.
This is how I feel now:

*Edit - please note the swearing is there to exaggerate how much of a good time I had, not to offend. Thank you.

It makes me barter, shout and bully people into giving me what I want and then I end up with not a great deal anyway! Plus I'm dead unlucky at landing on good stuff to buy. It's all about the oranges and the pinks if you ask me, they are where the money is. Reasonably priced houses with a big rent.. oh god I should not be allowed near this game, these are my friends I am playing with!

Today is St Patricks day and being English, this means dressing up in a 'hilarious' foam Guinness hats and speaking in rubbish attempts at Irish accents and drinking in all those Irish pubs in UK cities all over the country.. I even saw one girl dressed in a giant foam suit as a pint of Guiness. I think she probably will have a nosebleed by the end of the night as I have no idea how she could see where she was going. I have little opinion on guinness. I could if I so chose, drink a girly half. A lot of people like to express opinions on it, a lot like their opinion on Marmite (which I love).. they love it or they hate it.

I definitely have opinions of people dressing in comedy foam outfits for a man who supposedly chased all the snakes out of Ireland and any fossil traces they may have left behind. And they aren't good. But it is a good excuse like any other Friday night to go out and get so pissed you can't remember who you are..

So cheers!

ManInTheMoon: Word up Gaia, I'm comin around again..

Gaia: Oh, hey Moon my main man. What's going on my favourite satellite?

MITM: Not much, my dark side is playing up again.. it's freezing round the back here.

Gaia: How'm I lookin from up there..? I feel lousy.

MITM: Beautiful as always, There's an awesome view of Southside from where I'm floating.. the tide is comin in and the sands are shifting.. Why so low?

Gaia: It's those crazy humanoids. I'm a girl who likes balance - being a libra it's in my nature, but they just aren't as good at it as they used to be.. so I am slowly killing the little sh*tbags off. If they destroy my ozone, I destry them. hahaha

MITM: That's a bit harsh Gaia.. I like them, they make me laugh. And they do have some pretty decent TV and radio. Have you spoken to their satellites? They are a right laugh!

Gaia: Harsh but fair my friend, and besides, I hate TV. It sucks. It's the balance of nature, the lay of the land, mother nature's law.

MITM: That is profound.. well no rest for the wicked gotta be goin, those tides won't shift themselves! Catch you on the rebound Gaia.

Gaia: Stay bright Moon. Tata

Been reading about Gaia and think it is an ace idea. Takin it back to nature and simplifying it down to the spirit of the Earth just trying to keep a balance.. yeah! Oh God I am such a hippy tree hugger. I am a libra tho' obsessed with balance and beauty so that explains it.
I am lovin my course! Except it is pretty involved and has a lot of equations and stuff that I am just sort of coasting thro and not looking at it too hard or my head starts to throb like a handful of wasps. But it is the sort of thing that makes you go oh yeah so thats why that happens!

That picture up above is from Earth from the Air and the gallery has some bootiful images..

So Peace and love to all children of the Earth, Float On

Not much has happened since I last blogged. I am currently in the middle of my OU course in environmental sciences. I find it challenging but am enjoying the exercise it gives my little brain. Ask me about seeder feeder clouds and I might whisper it to you.

So I am doing this course and at the mo I am learning about the weather and I had this really weird dream where the clouds were moving across the land in a steady stream and I was standing on a hillock saying 'this means its going to rain' and I knew it would and it did and I had the ultimate power to predict the weather. And my mum was there. Weird. Maybe at the end of my course, that will be my skill, I will have Mentat capabilities, but not in the art of war, in the art of weather prediction. I would be happy with that. Where is that spice..

I have been looking for a really good book to read. There have been a couple that I have read where it was more than I just couldn't put it down, I fell in love with the characters and need to know everything about everything to do with them. I now am having trouble finding a book I am even content to read, let alone love. So I got chatting to this guy at work about some manga and other comics that he has read and one was called Revelation 23 and now I feel I cannot rest until I have read it. It sounds amazing. It's got angels, 7 dimensions, supernatural powers, God speaking directly to humans, and loads of other cool stuff including pirates! I need this book. Soon.

Has anyone seen SuperTroopers?! I watched it again last night and laughed my ass off. So you take care meow.

Wow that feels better. Not blogging I think is bad for the soul. I sure feel better for that!! I think I have a problem!

Really I am just disatisfied with my daily day to day life. I always thought there would be more to life than living for the weekend, getting wasted just moochin about the city. Having tasted a little of the world I am hungry for more, but also a little worried that it will make the ants bigger and badder if I do go a-travelling again. But is that so bad to have big nasty ants in your pants. Probably.

Woah, just watching Battle Royale and it is brutal!

So. Ants and pants. Well it isn't all bad. I could be trapped on a tropical island with a bomb around my neck forced to kill my friends!

Being out there makes me oh so happy!

It was great, stayed in a mini apartment with my Ma, Pa and 3 siblings.. sounds like it should have been hell on Earth but it wasn't, it was great.. until..

2 days into the holiday we all came back from a brill day out and about. I felt like sh*t. 2 hours later my head was down the toilet and I was saying hello to Ralph! Not good. One by one we all fell to this cruel little bacterial scum. Later we found out that the water in the whole resort was contaminated and over 300 people had succumbed to the little nastiness. I felt like I had played a walk on part in Outbreak.. bedbound and pale.. but it only lasted 12 hours or so; Body 1 EvilBacteria 0.

It was so serious the army were handing out free water!

How does this fit into the grand scheme of evolution? yes, maybe they want us to ingest the seeds and distribute them as follows, but why fill their fruit with so much tastiness and goodness. I take it as a gift of goodwill from the trees. Eve had it so right listening to that serpent.. and how do we repay them? By chopping them down when they get in our way or we need a few more million burgers, so we flatten them into pastureland.

OK Lucy, step away from the high horse.
I packed up a couple of paint brushes with the intention of visiting the numerous sites I had planted my supply of red paint with which to carry out this task.. not really! It's just a turn of phrase! I did go out tho.. I went to see a friend from school playing a gig. He has been a sound engineer round Notts for ages and has been playing loads of gigs too. I however have been slack and this is the first time i have seen him play since school! Slack-ass.

So last night i went to see him play. At school he was one of those shy guys who doesn't talk a great deal, but is really sound and really musically talented. Put any instrument infront of him and he will play it. Anyway he was hilarious and has written some ace songs. One is about an animal sports day - a true story. He played with another guy from school who also has made a bit of a name for himself round town with his musical talent, and they make a good double act. So last night I find out he is releasing a single.. on pink vinyl.. and he has had it played on Radio 1 a few times!

I don't think I have ever gotten a job based on a formal interview. This is solely because I suck at them. Application forms, brilliant, I can do those, but why do I have to then go in and talk to a panel of judges who ask me made up questions that don't reflect how I would deal with things actually in the real world because I wouldn't have 3 people looking at me waiting for an answer that exact moment?!!

Interviewer 1: So Lucy, please tell us what you would do to deal with this bullsh*t.

Lucy: Hmm, well... (enter bullsh*t and waffle here).

Interviewer 2: Yes, but what would you actually do?!

Lucy: (F***ck I thought I just told you!!) Hmm, well... (panic, try different bullsh*t and waffle)

I would have been bloody brilliant at that job, I was the ideal candidate, but did I get it across to those mofo's? Did I heck.

Well, as everyone keeps telling me, it is all experience.. meanwhile I have to stay on at these 2 rubbishy jobs. Nevermind, c'est la vie, non?!
